trend alert - lacquered kitchen cabinets

When it comes to kitchens, I'm seeing lacquered cabinets all over the place!  While I would normally consider myself more of a traditional girl when it comes to kitchens, especially with wood cabinets, this new trend has sparked my interest.
I'm seeing a lot of what I would consider standard lacquered cabinets - what immediately comes to your mind - high-gloss, bright and primary colors, and super modern.  That style is definitely out there, but I'm also seeing the lacquer in not-so-bright colors - whites, blacks, greys, more saturated and even a matte finish.  That's what's caught my eye!

Pigmented lacquered cabinets by Viola Park give off a more matte-look.

Love the color below, but I wish the backsplash was different.

I love this one!  The backsplash makes this kitchen look super glam and the lacquered cabinets are perfect in this space - love the glossy white.

The high-gloss works well combined with the wood, helps to break it up.

It's fun to see different colors being used, but not screaming bright, high-gloss!

They great cabinets provide a calming, more serene look.

Are you into the lacquered cabinets?  Do you have them in your home?

before + after

I've been meaning to share some before + afters for a while now and I've finally put some together!

The lighting in this apartment is really not great!  There is some natural light from the back windows, but that is about all!  We wanted to lighten and brighten the space so we worked with lighter furniture, added a few mirrors, and painted a great accent wall!

The "after" shot is facing the other direction.

black + white + color

Nothing says classic design to me more than black + white.  It's one of my favorite color palette's and i'm constantly drawn to it.  While all black and white rooms can be stunningly dramatic, I love to see how well other colors play off of it.

Touches of gold add sophistication.

Even minimal amounts of browns help to add another dimension.

Simple green.

house tour

Happy Monday!  I stumbled on this house tour on Apartment Therapy and couldn't wait to share it!  Sarah and Matt Alba's California home achieves that perfect, but not too perfect, styled feeling.  It's gorgeous, but still feels lived in - a perfect balance that is hard to come by!  You will notice a lot of storage throughout the house - Sarah's solution for clutter and all of her daughter's things!

Neutral living room palette - with blue accents. I love that the pouf and the pillow color matches.  The mirrors on the wall are a great design element.

The walk-around fireplace is a great feature.

An easy dining space simple palette, simple table and chairs set.

Some of my favorite design elements - that lamp, barstools and the wood bar.

Great color in the master bedroom.

More color!  Two smaller tables always make a great "coffee table area".  Neat magazine storage underneath.  I love the great couch color!

More storage - clean and neat, but not boring.

Coffee table styling.

Bookcase + pretty baskets = always a favorite of mine.  I love that lamp, too.

More storage in their daughter's room.

Such a pretty outside!

dining room e-design board

I've been working with a client on a e-design board for her dining room and I'm excited to share the final product!

This client has lived in her house for a while, but has left the dining room empty so we needed to start from scratch.  She wanted a "formal" dining room without feeling stuffy.  She also wanted to make sure to incorporate a few extra chairs for a small seating area near the window.  We ultimately decided to create a neutral base with room to decorate for any holiday or party.  We mixed wood and neutral tones with a few pops of blue.
In respect of my client, I keep all my sources private.  If you would like to know where something is from, just send me an e-mail!

sliding barn doors

Sliding barn doors are one of my favorite unique touches! Recently, I have been seeing them show up in houses more often.  They are so unexpected and are a gorgeous interior design touch.  Doors aren't usually a focal point in a room, but these will definitely catch your eye!

People normally think it's too rustic or country-ish, but depending on the material and hardware you use, it can be anything from modern to traditional, to rustic to sleek.

a fall saturday

We are heading to a Fall BBQ today and I wanted to share a little tablescape inspiration.  The centerpieces are simple to assembly (large hurricanes, small pumpkins and branches), but have a great visual impact - especially with all of that color!  Add in a few small pumpkins and festive napkins and you are ready to go!

my colors of the moment - green + indigo

While flipping through all of my interior design magazines, I've noticed some great color trend continuing.  We saw a lot of bold greens in the Spring and I see them moving forward as well as indigo being all over the place (so excited about this..indigo on furniture is simply amazing - more on that soon!).  These are some of my top picks for home accents in these colors!

loving lately - industrial accents

I've been a fan of the industrial trend in interior design for a while now!  Adding in the worn metal and antiqued brass finishes are a great way to add a new element to a space.  While the metal can feel cool, the finishes help to warm it up.  Most people are hesitant to decorate their entire room with the industrial trend, or even invest in large pieces, so choosing accents can perfect to get your feet wet.  I'm loving these pieces below and would love to incorporate them into a room!

master bedroom e-decorating board

Happy Tuesday!  I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend! A special shout-out to all the teachers (and kids!) going back to school today (hi mom!).

I've been busy with a lot of e-decorating work lately and wanted to start sharing some boards with you!

A client contacted me to help put together a new master bedroom for her.  We started from scratch on this one, having to buy everything in the room.
My client asked to mix different wood tones, keeping most of the room neutral with a pop.

Here is the finished product!

In respect of my client, I keep all my sources private.  If you would like to know where something is from, just send me an e-mail!
