i need an office!

When I first started blogging, I would plop down on my laptop anywhere - couch, bed, table, floor(?!).  We have a built-in desk area in the kitchen that I will sit at if I need to do a lot of work, but it's out of the way and I'd rather be closer to the living room area (this sounds funny since my apartment is 750 sq ft and pretty much one big room!).
Now that my blog is growing and I'm officially getting Lindsey Anne Interior Styling up and running (just received my business cards - so excited!) I need to set up permanent shop (in the living room)!  I'm taking the plunge and getting a Mac desktop and I'll keep the laptop for when I'm working in bed!  I need cork boards and a filing system and lots of storage!

Since this is going to take a little while to organize and set up, I thought I'd start backwards and with the fun part - accessorizing!
I'm convinced that adding a few stylish accessories will make me more productive and keep the creativity flowing (seems reasonable, right?)!  I posted the inspiration a few days ago - here.  This is where I'm at now!

What do you think of the ideas so far?  Do you feel like you work better in a place that's well put together?

Also, for the entire month of May, I am offering 20% off an interior styling service of your choice (see here for a list of services).  All you have to do is become a follower of Pinklet and C (if you aren't already!) or LIKE Pinklet and C on Facebook (you can use the button below or on the sidebar!)  Just add May Follower in the subject line of your e-mail!

a little sunday post

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend!  We are heading to a BBQ today to catch up with some friends and relax.  I have a big and busy week coming up so I'm trying to soak up these last few hours of the weekend!  I'm also desperately trying to ignore the fact that I haven't started packing for California yet!  I'm such an early packer (and planner!).
In the meantime, here's a room that I love!
The purple and the yellow surprisingly work so well together.  Those windows paired with that view can't hurt, either!

Happy Sunday!

color spotlight - green

Green is definitely having a moment!  I'm seeing it everywhere from fashion and accessories to home decor.  It's a fun shade that can work with any base you pair it with - white, beige, gray, black!

Have you decorated with any green shades lately?

white washed

I have been all about lots of color lately - brights, pastels, and neon shades!  This has really gotten me in the mood for spring, but a white washed room will always be one of my favorites!  There are so many ways to style it so it doesn't look stark or cold.  Working with different textures and tones is one of my favorite things, and you can really play around with that in white grounded spaces.  I pulled together a few gorgeous rooms to bring in a little calming inspiration!

I think my favorite image.  Not sure if I could live with this every day,
but I would love to curl up with a book and relax here!

With a view like this, you don't need any distractions - simple, clean, white!

Love the hanging light bulbs!  The bedding and rugs add
texture to keep the room from looking bland.

It's amazing what the flowers, stool, and chandelier do to this room.
Simple objects shine against the white.

inspiration + a few things

I was browsing some old images on Lonny and found this image.  I have been wanting to give my desk area in my apartment a mini makeover and this image was the perfect inspiration!  I love the colors and how it looks fresh and clean - perfect for a work space!
I'm putting together an inspiration board for this soon so stayed tuned!

california dreaming

I'm heading to L.A. in a few shorts weeks to visit my best friend and I have California on the brain!  I've had images of the extremely talented designer Trip Haenisch's work bookmarked on my computer for a while now and feel like they are a perfect way to get me ready for the West Coast.  Sunshine, wide open doors, greenery, the beach!
Love the color of the furniture and how it matches the ceiling.

The room is stunning!  The black windows and doors pop against
the white and you barely notice the t.v. with that view!
Sign me up to relax out here!
What a perfect way to wake up.  Doors wide open to the beach.

I love the color of the furniture, it brightens everything up.
The doors open in the back might be my favorite part of this space.

All images can be found here.
If you aren't familiar with his work, I strongly suggest you head over to his website and take a lot.  Every image is stunning!

Enjoy your Monday everyone!

e-decorating board - bedroom

I loved working on this e-decorating board for a client's bedroom.  Her request was simple, create a relaxing bedroom with a bit of glamour.  She already had the duvet shown so we worked around that.  I mixed the finishes on the furniture to give the room a bit of a contrast and kept the headboard and chair both tufted.  The gold accents warm up the room while giving it the glitz that the client asked for.
This board was created using Olioboard

I can't wait for her feedback and to help her get started on this project!
What do you think?

what's hanging - diy ideas

While I'm not a fan of airing out your dirty laundry, these two DIYs caught my eye and are a stylish way to display your things.

I saw this DIY hanging closet on Stylelist yesterday and was intrigued! I immediately thought that my boyfriend would be much more apt to hang things up if it was on reclaimed wood! While I'm not too sure I would enjoy seeing clothes hanging all over a wall in my apartment, I could see hanging accessories like straw hats and pretty baubles. This might offset the reclaimed wood and make it a little more feminine.  Either way, it's definitely a unique idea !

Speaking of more feminine, I saw this super stylish DIY on the Deliciously Organized blog the other day.  This is such a great idea for hanging your jewelry and is a cute statement piece on it's own!  Read how to get the look here!

Do you have any DIY projects that display your clothes or accessories?  I would love to hear them!

the striped wall

Stripes have always been my favorite pattern.  Newest obsession?  Wide bar stripes covering the walls.  I can't get enough of it lately!  Every time I see it in a room my eye goes directly to it and I can barely focus on the rest!  Whether using bold or subtle colors - it's a great way to make a statement.  I'm already envisioning painting over my current accent wall and doing a light grey and white striped wall.
I love how the color from the back room is used in the stripes.  Great way to transition!

Would love this in a home office!

These stripes add simple interest to a bathroom.

The black and white just might, unexpectedly, be my favorite!  So dramatic!

I love this look - perfect as an accent in an entryway.

The wide bar stripes create a great focal point without having
to add anything else!  Love the sheen in one of the stripes.

Soothing colors for a bedroom.

This is quite a statement!

vanilla sugar

Eric bought me whole vanilla beans around Christmas and we made our own vanilla extract, which has been a big hit!  We have some leftover beans and we finally got around to making vanilla sugar this weekend!  I bake a lot and have wanted to make vanilla sugar for a while.  It is such and easy recipe and takes about 5 minutes to prepare.  You can use it just as you would use regular sugar, just adds a vanilla flavor!
Vanilla Sugar:
    2 Vanilla Beans
    1 Cup of Sugar
Directions:
    Pour sugar into a bowl.
Slice bean down the middle and scrape out the seeds.
Add the seeds to the sugar and mix in.
Place the empty vanilla beans into an air tight container (I used a mason jar).
Pour the sugar into jar over the beans.
    Let sit for 1-2 weeks

I'm excited swatch out regular sugar for this the next time I bake!

Have you made anything recently?

This post is listed on Natasha in Oz's  link party.

saturday muse

Happy Saturday Everyone!  Hope you are enjoying your weekend.  This morning we made vanilla sugar with our fresh vanilla beans (I will blog about it soon!).  It was a gorgeous day in NYC so we took Cocoa for a long walk in the park.  Now I'm off to buy some fresh flowers to brighten up the apartment - hopefully I can find some pretty peonies, like these.  It's my favorite weekend ritual!

What are you up to this weekend?

link find of the week
Have you visited Zhush yet?  It's a great site with amazing accessories and accents for your home.  I just came across the store this week and have been picking things out that I want the last few days - like these mint julep cups)!  I hope to have a store like this one day!!   I will definitely post my favorite picks from there soon!  So many choices!

current project: organized office nook inspiration board

I always love a good organizing project! I'm currently working on an inspiration board for a client's small hone office nook. The space already has a desk with drawers built in so we only need to focus on the accessories (the fun part!).  My goal for this board is to give her an overall direction on where this area needs to go to help her stay organized while keeping the space looking neat and chic.

The Project: Create a clean and organized work space that is both functional and stylish. Need desk accessories and organizing solutions.
The Details: Client has a small built –in desk/workspace in her kitchen.
-Space is currently a catch-all for keys, mail, work papers, etc.
-Only accessories and accents are needed
-Since this space is out in the open, need to keep the design very clean and clutter-free and fit in with the                                       surrounding area (kitchen).
     -Wish List:
-Space to file papers on the desktop
-Cork/memo board to do some real –life “pinning”!
-Designated space for keys, magazines, mail, etc.
-Color Palette: mostly white with a small injection of color
The Solution:

Next Step: Once I get a signed approval from my client on the board we can go ahead and start to declutter her space and get things organized!

Have you done any organizing projects lately?

master bedroom progress

In our tiny apartment, we have pocket doors that separate the bedroom and the rest of the apartment.  I like to keep them open most of the time since it really opens up the space.  Because of this, I always make sure our bedroom looks clean and neat, and flows with the rest of the apartment.
We have exposed brick in the bedroom, which I love, on either side of a wall that was already painted when we moved in.  We rent from a couple that own the apartment, but are overseas for a few years, so making too many changes is not very possible.  We already painted in the living room, so I thought we would keep this color.  It definitely works with the brick.

When buying bedding, I immediately fell in love with West Elm's Pintuck Duvet Cover in Sea Spray.  I didn't want anything beige or a typical neutral, because I wanted it to stand out a bit.  This color worked perfectly in lightening up the room and balancing out the brick and olive tones on the wall.

The curtains were another thing that was left by the owners.  I didn't love them at first, but I left them up until I could figure something else out.  They eventually grew on me and they are quite thick, which we need being so close to the street, and the color worked with the rest of the apartment and went perfectly with the duvet cover!

Here you can see the bedroom from the other side of the apartment.  The curtains tie in the blues and the bedding looks perfect.  If you notice, the blue and white pillows on my bed in the first two pictures are on the couch in the one below (this is an old picture, I've since got a new coffee table and rearranged a lot - it's a disease!).  These are also from West Elm (no longer available).  I try to buy things that will work in different parts of the apartment, both to save money and also to help keep the tiny apartment cohesive!

This room is still a work in progress, but I'm happy with where we are right now.  What do you think?

baubles + jewels

Lately I have been wearing a lot of fun jewelry. I love the way it can completely transform any outfit! I can be having a jeans and t-shirt kind of day, then accessorize with a pretty bauble and I have a whole new look! Adding on accessories to your outfit is like adding decorating accents around your house (am I the only one who makes this comparison?!)  Small updates can have a big impact!

I’m coveting these right now (ESPECIALLY the Loren Hope Lindsey Gold Link Bracelet - named after me?? - exact spelling and all - I can only hope!!)

If this enticed you to go shopping...!

weekend treats

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend!
We had a pretty laid back weekend filled with lots of cleaning (and catching up on Mad Men!).
The better part of my weekend was spent buying flowers and baking cookies as my contribution for our Easter get together!

Fresh flowers from the farmer's market.

Half of the sugar cookies made! I used this recipe
topped with pastel-colored sugared sprinkles! Yum!

All wrapped up. I love making the packaging pretty. It's the icing on the cake!

Flowers, cookies, and presents for my goddaughter ready to go for Easter!
I love how the purple bows make simple boxes and
clear wrap look fun and perfectly put together!

I hope you all had a very wonderful weekend!

P.S. Julie from Simply Savvy featured my closet organizing post on her blog today!  Be sure to check it out here!  She has a wonderful website and a great blog.  It's an honor to be over there!  Thanks Julie!!
