organized accessories

I love tackling little organizing projects. They're usually quick and easy and once completed, I feel accomplished!  Last week I got around to fixing up some of my accessories.

First, I moved all of my makeup brushes to a glass vase. They were in a white pencil holder before, but then I used that for something else and so they've been sitting in my makeup box for a while and they're getting ruined! I had a small glass vase that I bought a while back and used in my old apartment but didn't have a place for it yet. I filled it with sand that I had brought back from the beach last year and then placed the brushes in.  I love the way this looks and it's perfect for locating my brushes and keeping them intact. It's functional and stylish!
First, displayed on my vanity because I liked the way it looked!
Now it sits on a shelf in my bathroom.  The perfect spot for easy access!

You can get similar vases here or here. I used sand because I already had some but I've seen lots of other things used like marbles, beads and, my favorite, coffee beans. I think I might switch out for the coffee in the future but for now, I love this!

The next thing I did was organize my jewelry. I'm definitely tight on closet space, but I left one shelf for accessories!

This shelf holds my bracelets, earrings, watches and rings. I organized everything in groups and laid the costume jewelry out flat in the front (bracelets and earrings) and I put my silver and gold in small jewelry boxes in the back. The boxes that you get when you buy jewelry are great for storage and when you travel, so don't throw them all away! I have all of my good jewelry hidden, but I thought this was a great way to display the rest in a way that made it easy to locate everything!

I wanted to hang my necklaces, but I didn't want them out in the open so I decided to put them on the inside of my closet door. I bought self adhesive hooks (try these) so I don't ruin the doors and they have a lot of stylish (well, as stylish as plastic hooks can get!) and hung up the necklaces.

What do you guys think? What creative things have you done to organize the little things in your home?
